ROUTE TO FOLLOW FROM CARACAS OR VALENCIA TO ARRIVE TO CHORONI
TIME: 3:30 to 4 hrs. from the tollbooth to Choroni (with normal traffic).
2:30 hrs. From Valencia
Regional Highway of the Center, entering Maracay by Palo Negro, (in the direction of Caracas Valencia, first exit after La Encrucijada, in the direction of Valencia Caracas, next exit to Tapa Tapa)
Pass the Palo Negro tollbooth and continue to the airplane's flask; turn ¾ turn left towards Av. Bolívar continue until the next flask of the Obelisk, where you will line ½ redoma to follow the track towards Av. "Casanova Godoy" passing by the Kellog's, and BP pump (where you should load gasoline although it is almost full), until you reach the next dealer where you must take the left way, above, to join the Av. Casanova Godoy. Follow this road to the fourth traffic light [where there is a Mc. Donald's in front]. There take to the right; that is the Av. Las Delicias that is easily recognized because it has a large island of trees in the center. Recall it to the end - arriving to the zoo - and from there continue along the Avenida El Castaño - double track without an island in the center - passing in front of Pizza Mia, BP pump (last one found before Choroni), Hotel Pippo , Urb. El Castaño, and it becomes narrower and narrower until it becomes a simple double track, which is the road that reaches Choroni.
LAS DELICIAS avenue is the only road that connects with the MARACAY-CHORONÍ National Highway
Arriving in Choroni, approximately 1 hr. and 30 min later, they must cross the colonial town and leave it in the direction of Puerto Colombia. In this way we got 3 small bridges; the first one is immediately leaving the town, in front of the hotel Hacienda Santa Clara; the 2nd bridge immediately after Posada Arakemo and then before crossing the 3rd bridge, on the left we find the detour that goes to the inn Las García at 80 meters. In the detour there is a sign indicating it.
Choroni has a rural medicine dispensary, 1 pharmacy, a BNC banking agency with 2 ATMs, 1 Mercantile ATM, various restaurants and lodges, public telephone booths, taxi service, and bilingual guide service and a gas pump that works from 8 to 12m and from 2 to 6pm. It is recommended that you fill the gas tank in Maracay before going up.
MARACAY-CHORONÍ NATIONAL ROAD crosses the HENRI PITTIER NATIONAL PARK, FIRST NATIONAL PARK OF THE COUNTRY and one of the first in South America, CREATED IN 1937. It is one of the 2 ecosystems of more biodiversity of the PLANET (the other is in Indonesia). It is also one of the two ecosystems of more birds per Km2 in the world (the other is in Uganda, Africa). This national park has even more characteristics that qualify it as one of the most extraordinary places in the world, and IT IS IN GREAT DANGER TO BE LOST due to the misuse that we give users; that is why we ask that DURING YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH THE PARK YOU DO NOT BOTT CIGARETTES, BOTTLES, CANS, PAPERS, OR GARBAGE OF ANY KIND ON THE ROAD.
Bring your trash to the garbage dump of the Inn, which will gladly take you the Urban Toilet service.
We are trying to collaborate with positive actions to save this environmental jewel of Venezuela and the world.
NOTE: due to the huge queues that form at peak times at the entrance to Maracay by the Palo Negro toll, it is recommended to exit through the toll roads of La Encrucijada or Tapa Tapa and follow the signs for the junction to Las Delicias and via Choroni. .
